Newcastle Partnership Welcomes New Director
05/02/2007

Newcastle’s Local Strategic Partnership, the Newcastle Partnership, has appointed Douglas Taylor as its new Director.
The Newcastle Partnership is the Local Strategic Partnership for Newcastle which brings together key organisations from across the public, private, voluntary and community sectors to deliver Newcastle’s Local Area Agreement and Sustainable Communities Strategy.
LSPs are key to tackling deep seated, multi-faceted problems, requiring a range of responses from different bodies. Local partners working through a LSP will be expected to take many of the major decisions about priorities for their local area.
Mr Taylor, who is covering a maternity leave, was Chief Executive of local housing association Newcastle & Whitley Housing Trust, for more than 10 years. In total, he has over 38 years’ experience working in the public sector.
Douglas says: “I’m delighted to be taking up the interim post as director of Newcastle Partnership. There are a number of stiff challenges facing me including the implementation of the Local Area Agreement and working with the Board to revise the structure of the Partnership. I am very much looking forward to those challenges.”
